The 3 Days Tour from Marrakech to Chegaga Desert is one of the most authentic Sahara adventures in Morocco. This journey takes you off the beaten track into the wild dunes of Erg Chegaga, the most remote and untouched desert in the country. Unlike the more popular Merzouga, Chegaga offers a deeper nomadic experience, vast landscapes, and a real sense of silence and freedom. During these three days, you will cross the High Atlas Mountains, explore ancient kasbahs, visit Berber villages, travel through Draa Valley, and ride camels across golden dunes. It’s the perfect tour for travelers looking for nature, culture, and adventure in a single trip.

Day 1: Marrakech – Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Agdz – Zagora – M’hamid
Your Chegaga desert adventure begins with an early morning departure from Marrakech. You will drive across the majestic High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), enjoying panoramic views and Berber settlements perched on mountain slopes. Our first major stop is the legendary Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage ksar where many Hollywood movies were filmed, including Gladiator, Alexander, and Game of Thrones. After a guided visit, continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gate to the Sahara.”
From here, the landscape changes dramatically as we head toward Agdz and the lush Draa Valley, home to millions of palm trees and ancient ksours. After passing through Zagora, we continue south to M’hamid, the last village before the Sahara begins. Enjoy a short camel ride at sunset before arriving at your first desert camp, where you will have dinner and spend the night in a traditional nomadic tent.
Day 2: M’hamid – Off-Road to Chegaga Dunes – Desert Experience
After breakfast, the real Sahara adventure begins. We leave the paved road and drive off-road for 2–3 hours into the deep desert, crossing rocky plains, dry riverbeds, and small sand dunes. This wild route leads to the breathtaking Erg Chegaga, the largest dune area in southern Morocco, with dunes reaching up to 300 meters high.
Upon arrival, enjoy tea with nomads and settle into the calm and beauty of the desert. In the afternoon, take a sunset camel trek across the dunes. The silence, the golden sand, and the vast open space make Chegaga one of the most unique deserts in Morocco. After dinner at the camp, enjoy music around the fire and admire a sky filled with stars. Overnight in a comfortable or luxury desert camp.
Day 3: Chegaga – Iriqui Lake – Taznakht – Marrakech
Wake up early to watch the magical sunrise over the Chegaga dunes. After breakfast, we begin our off-road journey across the Iriqui National Park, known for its fossil fields and desert landscapes. We stop at the dry Lake Iriqui, one of the most photogenic locations in southern Morocco.
From here, we continue to Taznakht, a village famous for handmade Berber carpets. After lunch, we drive through the Atlas Mountains back to Marrakech, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening. End of your unforgettable 3-day Marrakech to Chegaga Desert tour.
