Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert

Your 3 days adventure begins with departure from Fes towards the Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop is Ifrane, often called the Switzerland of Morocco thanks to its clean avenues, alpine architecture, and fresh climate. You then continue to the Cedar Forest of Azrou, home to the famous Barbary macaques, where you can enjoy photos and a short walk. The road leads through the peaks of the Middle Atlas, passing small Berber villages and scenic landscapes until reaching Midelt, known for its apple orchards. After lunch, the journey continues across the Ziz Valley, a spectacular palm oasis stretching along the largest river in southern Morocco. In the afternoon you arrive at Merzouga, at the edge of the golden Erg Chebbi dunes. Here you change to camels and ride through the desert at sunset toward your luxury or standard desert camp, where you will enjoy dinner, Berber drums, and a magical night under the starry sky.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert Exploration – Khamlia – Nomads – Black Desert – Oasis – Rissani

After sunrise and breakfast, the second day is dedicated to discovering the real life of the Sahara. You start with a 4×4 tour around the dunes, visiting Khamlia village, famous for Gnawa music played by descendants of African tribes. The route continues to the black desert of volcanic stones, where you meet Berber nomad families living in traditional tents and learn about their lifestyle. You also stop at small desert oases and panoramic viewpoints that offer unforgettable pictures of Erg Chebbi. Lunch is in a local restaurant or with a nomad family (optional). In the afternoon visit Rissani, the oldest imperial town in the region, known for its traditional market and historical ksars. Later you return to Merzouga, where you can enjoy free time to relax at the hotel or experience an optional ATV/buggy adventure on the dunes. Dinner and overnight in a riad or hotel near the dunes.

Day 3: Merzouga – Erfoud – Ziz Gorges – Azrou – Fes

After breakfast, you begin the return journey to Fes, passing through Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops and desert products. The road climbs again toward the Atlas Mountains, offering beautiful views of the Ziz Gorges, dramatic rock formations carved by the river. You cross forests, valleys, and Berber villages until reaching Azrou, known for its artisan cooperatives and handicrafts. A scenic drive brings you back to Fes, arriving in the late afternoon, where your 3-day tour to the desert concludes with drop-off at your hotel or riad.
